CMS Suite v3 represents the pinnacle of our software, providing business owners with a way to easily build their own websites AND automate many of their day-to-day office activities. In other words, CMS Suite v3 doesn’t just make your website better, it helps make your business better too.

Most business owners will be happy to use CMS Suite v3 as-is, right out of the box and adding a custom template or skin. But if you are interested in doing your own coding (or hiring someone else to do it), you can modify the open source code any way you like to tailor a truly unique business and website solution.

Below are the basic steps to installing and using CMS Suite v3, as well as a list of resources to help you get the most out of the software.

Installing CMS Suite v3

  1. Create a new folder on your hard drive called “MyWebsite” (or a name of your choosing).
  2. Unzip all files to your local site, the folder location on your computer that holds your website files.
  3. Upload all files and folders to your web server exactly as they were unzipped (DO NOT MODIFY file or folder names). More information on uploading can be found at the bottom of this list.
  4. Unlock your application by providing your license key, username, password, email address etc. in the registration screen. The registration screen will disappear once you have unlocked and registered your app.

    You will not be able to unlock your app unless folder permissions are configured correctly - see additional notes section below

  5. Start using your application!

    You can access the display page and admin page through the following url's (you need to substitute "mydomain.com" with your domain name):

  • To upload CMS Suite v3 you will need an FTP program like Filezilla (http://download.cnet.com/FileZilla/3000-2160_4-10308966.html). You will require an FTP username, password, and server location. Your web hosting company should provide you with this information when you signed up. If not, contact them for help.

  • Web Server Permissions: When you install your CMS Suite v3 software for the first time, you may encounter a server error when load your site in your browser. The errors look like this:

    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

    Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046'
    Permission denied

    Operation must use an updateable query

    To resolve this error, you will need to allow read/write/execute (or chmod 777 for hybrid asp/php servers) permissions on the following folders (including sub folders & files) on your web host/server.

    • /cmsv3/database/cms-suite.mdb - database file
    • /cmsv3/database/ - folder
    • /cmsv3/assets/
    • /cmsv3/shared_library/installation/

    Contact your web host for specific instructions/protocol on how to modify folder permissions on your server. You can also refer to our knowledgebase for help.

  • Securing Your Database: DMXReady HIGHLY recommends you secure your database by following the instructions in our knowledge base.

  • Troubleshooting Web Server Errors: In order to debug any errors you may receive you will need to turn off friendly http errors inside your browser by following the instructions in our knowledge base.

  • *Make your CMS load as your website home page: To make your CMS home page automatically load as your website home page i.e http://www.mydomain.com, simply rename the existing "cms-homepage.asp" file to "index.asp"
